BG GHOST removes image backgrounds in your browser and lets you download a transparent PNG. The remover is free, adds no watermark, and does not require a BG GHOST account.

How it works

Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, then press Remove background. Your browser downloads the AI model and runs it on your device. The selected image and generated result are not uploaded to our application server.

Original dimensions, with practical limits

Successful downloads keep the original image dimensions. The AI estimates the foreground at 512 × 512 pixels and scales that mask to your image; keeping the output dimensions does not guarantee that every fine detail is preserved.

Files must be 20 MB or smaller and pass image-dimension and memory checks. Hair, glass, thin details, shadows, and low-contrast edges can be difficult. Processing can take a few minutes on slower devices, so inspect each result before using it.

The AI behind the tool

BG GHOST uses BiRefNet Lite 512 with ONNX Runtime Web. The model and runtime are hosted with the site and carry MIT license notices. Credit goes to Peng Zheng and the BiRefNet contributors, Studio Ludens for the browser model export, and the ONNX Runtime contributors.

Keeping the tool free
